The dimension of drug prevention is not just limited to treatment and rehabilitation. It is crucial to address the social determinants of health and enhance aftercare support for EM drug users. Hence, our speaker from SARDA will equip participants with practice wisdom to strengthen EM rehabilitees’ self-efficacy on their well-being and facilitate a community support network.
Also, since religion is a significant social determinant of health among ethnic minorities, which is conducive to well-being and healthcare decision-making. Therefore, the provision of culturally sensitive intervention is important in addressing hidden problems and cultural taboos within the family. Therefore we have invited Lila Tsang who is experienced in Hinduism to share her perspective from a religion point of view.
The symposium aims to enhance current and future multidisciplinary professionals who have opportunities to reach out to multicultural groups, to improve their understanding and sensitivity of social determinants of health in the context of ethnic minorities’ anti-drug needs.
